Tim Ayliffe Author Talk

Saturday 27 November, 11.30am to 12.30pm. FREE event.

Journalist Tim Ayliffe will join us in the Library to speak about his latest book The Enemy Within. Like Michael Connelly’s Bosch, former war correspondent John Bailey will risk everything to get to the truth – and expose a deadly enemy. But someone wants to stop him from doing what he does best…

Sophie Green Author Talk

Saturday 4 December, 2pm to 3pm. FREE event.

Join us to hear from bestselling author Sophie Green about her writing career and latest book Thursdays at Orange Blossom House. This story is set in far north Queensland in 1993. Three very different women looking for reconnection come together at Orange Blossom House with yoga teacher Sandrine. Here they find courage and strength - and discover that life has much more to offer than they ever expected.

Adults Christmas Craft - Advent Calendars

Sunday 5 December, 2.30pm to 4.30pm. FREE event.

This festive season adults can join us in the Library to make a fun craft! Use matchboxes and decoupage to create your own mini advent calendar – perfect for filling with little treats and counting down the days to a special occasion. Places are limited so book early!

Christmas Story Time

Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 December, 10.30am to 11.30am. FREE. For ages 2 and over.

Join us for a very merry Christmas story time. In this special session we will read stories all about Christmas, make Christmassy crafts and spread glitter through the children’s room! Decorate your tree at home with your wonderful craft creations. Special Christmas morning tea provided. Parents required to stay.

Kids Christmas Crafternoon

Monday 20 December, 3.45pm to 4.45pm. FREE. For ages 4 and over.

Join us for a fun afternoon of Christmas craft!! Local youth will be volunteering their time to be Elf helpers at each of the craft stations where participants will make various Christmas crafts to take home. Parents required to stay.

Game Development with Devika

Monday 10 & Tuesday 11 January, 10am to 1pm or 2pm to 5pm. Cost: $5.00. For ages 11 and over.

Ever wanted to design your own game from scratch? Devika will run workshops where children can develop retro video games such as Pong, Flappy Bird, or Breakout, using a variety of technologies and techniques. Some beginner’s coding experience would be beneficial, but not necessary. There will be 4 session times available, of 3 hours duration each. All equipment is provided.

Zine Zone with Southern Tablelands Arts

Thursday 13 January, 2pm to 5pm. Cost: $5.00. For ages 8 and over.

Ever wanted to get creative and make your own Zine? Always wanted to make your own magazine but never knew how? Join Southern Tablelands Arts for a fun afternoon making your very own Zine publication. Use text, collage, drawing and more to create a personalised publication. The workshop will include making copies of your completed Zine to hand out to friends and family.

Cartooning with Matthew Lin and Marcelo Baez

Tuesday 18 January, 10.30am to 12.15pm or 11.30am to 1.15pm. Cost: $5.00. For ages 7 and over.

Choose your workshop! First we have a fun anime workshop with Matthew Lin. Learn anime styles and create characters that you can put into your own comics or artworks. Then, artists Matthew Lin and Marcelo Baez will compete in the ultimate fast-paced challenge, Draw Off! If anime is not your style, try the monster workshop with Marcelo Baez. Design your own monster and learn drawing techniques that can help your creations jump right off the page.

Superhero Story Party

Thursday 20 and Monday 24 January, 10.30am to 12pm. FREE. For ages 3 and over.

Calling all superheroes! We have a fun session that will help transform any regular being into an awesome superhero! Participants will enjoy designing and decorating their own superhero mask, shield and wrist cuff – just what every superhero needs! Participants will also enjoy listening to some action-packed superhero adventure stories. Morning tea will be provided. Parents required to stay.
